This book is the result of 30 years research by Dr. Bob Chinnock, the world authority on the family Myoporaceae. He has produced a new classification of the family resulting in the delimitation of three new genera, 95 new species and 46 new subspecies, and a revised infrageneric classification of the genera Eremophila and Myoporum. The treatment of the species in this work includes a detailed description, photographs, analytical drawings and notes on distribution, ecology, conservation status and relationships.

About the author

Bob Chinnock grew up in Wellington New Zealand and had an interest in plants from an early age. He gained his M.Sc. (Hons) degree from Victoria University, Wellington in 1971 and moved to Australia in 1972 to join the staff of the State Herbarium of South Australia in Adelaide. He began his study of Eremophila in 1975, gaining a Ph.D. from the Flinders University of South Australia in 1982 for work on this genus and related ones. Since then he has expanded his research to cover the family Myoporaceae and has had the opportunity to study most species in this field. He also has a deep interest in seedling development, rare and endangered species, fire ecology, breeding systems, seed dispersal mechanisms and in the introduction of new species into cultivation.
