Many people have contributed to the understanding of Australia’s unique flora and fauna and foremost in the Western Australia arena is Rica Erickson. She was born in 1908 on the Eastern Goldfields in Western Australia and has spent most of her life studying and writing about plants, birds and insects. She is also an accomplished botanical artist and author and many of her works remain as standard references. Recently a genus of orchid was named Ericksonella in recognition of her contribution to botany in Australia.
This book is the story of her life, about the people who helped her on her way. It is illustrated with black and white and colour prints and drawings and with reproductions of some of her writings. It is an easy to read tale of a very significant naturalists life.
