Summary
Willows are trees and shrubs native to the northern hemisphere and considered as either invasive weeds, or desirable for amenity purposes in temperate Australia. The leaf-feeding willow sawfly Nematus oligospilus was recently identified as a new incursion to Australia and its potential pest or beneficial attributes are discussed.
